I have a long-standing passion for the ancient world and it's incredibly rich, diverse artistic culture. Just one of the main reasons is the sheer dedication of these past artisans to acheive perfection, sometimes at great human cost, a tenacity which is lost in the modern world. Below are some of my humble sculptural dedications to these vanished craftsmen. I've strived to capture the detail and eerie mystery of Ancient Greece, Middle and Far Eastern art.

'ARCHAIC GREEK SPHINX' In Ancient Greece the Sphinx was she-monster, with the head and breasts of a woman, the body of a lion, the wings of an eagle, and the tail of a snake. She was said to be the daughter of Echidna. The Sphinx guarded Thebes and asked this riddle of all passing travellers: "What goes on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening"?
If the travellers failed to solve the riddle, they were killed by the Sphinx.
Oedipus solved the riddle, and the Sphinx destroyed herself.
